The Eye Opener Report

Turning the findings into action

The Eye Opener Report is a clear and practical guide to what needs to change. It brings together the strongest findings from the Gender Mapping research, the Stakeholder Roundtables and VINTA’s case studies.

It presents the evidence in a more accessible and visual way, helping readers quickly understand where women’s progression narrows and what practical action can be taken.

Why Our Report Matters?

Our Eye Opener Report brings VINTA’s research, stakeholder voices and real-life examples together in one accessible resource. It shows where women’s progression continues to narrow across brewing, distilling and winemaking, while highlighting practical examples of what employers, education providers and sector organisations can do differently.

The report moves the conversation from evidence to action, showing how mentoring, clearer progression routes, flexible working, stronger networks and more inclusive workplace practices can help women move into technical authority, leadership and ownership across the sector.

The Eye Opener Report is designed to make the research easier to understand, share and use.

Its central message is simple: women are already studying, working, innovating and building businesses across the drinks sector, but participation does not always lead to equal authority, visibility, leadership or ownership.

The report includes:

• Key findings and headline figures
• A look at how barriers build across different career stages
• Country perspectives from Ireland, France, Denmark, Portugal and Ukraine
• Examples from employers, educators, networks and women-led businesses
• Practical actions for employers, VET providers and sector bodies
• A shared action agenda for supporting women’s progression

Use the Eye Opener Report:

• In a staff or management meeting
• As part of a training session or workshop
• At a sector event or stakeholder discussion
• To introduce VINTA’s work to a new audience
• To help your organisation choose one practical first step

That first step might be making promotion criteria clearer, introducing structured mentoring, reviewing flexible working options or improving access to training information.
